In my opinion,i not agree with this statement.Maybe for the 'ordinary' public,this statement should be strongly supported.Chemical like monosodium glutamate,sulphur dioxide and some others chemical compound that added into our food today was highlited as a reasons for causing many health problems to us.But...do you ever think why we ourselves,create this 'magic' ingredients?
As a food technology student,i feel responsible to make others believe and understand more why this 'magic' ingredients created and added into our food.Briefly,this chemicals be apart of our food ingredients to carry on some function which are act as emulsifiers,acidulants,stabilizers,flavouring agents and so on.Besides,it also responsible to preserve and enhance our food quality.There some examples that this 'magic' ingredients brings miracle to us.For examples,
Mix maida (refined white flour) with some fat (hydrogenated, which increases cholesterol), refined white sugar, starch, salt, cocoa, sodium bicarbonate, skimmed milk powder and to this add a dash of colour, emulsifier and preservative. Guess what you get? A wafer biscuit. Junk in the true sense of the word.(refer from science direct)
